The 7.5 x 15 mm size is suitable for general micro work ��nd as a container for hygroscopic materials where the bottle containing the sample is dropped into the reaction flask. The 40 x 80 size accommodates 1" x 3" micro TLC plates ��nd serves as a micro developing tank. Designed from Federal Specification NNN-B-1493, Type I, Style II requirements. Replacement stopper is 15180 series. A 15182 stopper may also be used. However, it does not have a marking spot.

Used in the determination of specific gravity for a large variety of semi-solid materials ��nd emulsions, such as road oils, road tars, soft tar pitches, ��nd asphalt cements (ASTM D70); drying oils, varnishes, resins, ��nd related materials (ASTM D1963); water ��nd brine (ASTM D1429); ��nd insulating varnishes (ASTM D115). Short length stopper is conical on the underside ��nd has a hole approximately 1.6 mm in diameter to allow air to escape.

KIMAX bottle is supplied with a special medium length 10/18 thermometer with a range of 14 to 38 degrees C in 0.2 degrees. Retested for accuracy within ± 0.2 degrees C. Cap for the side tube is medium length 5/12 ��nd has a small vent near the top. Body is conical for maximum stability, ��nd capacity is within 10 percent of nominal on the flask. Each flask body is numbered for ready identification. The 50 mL size is used to obtain the specific gravity of pigments (ASTM D153).

1.        Thoroughly clean, dry, assemble, ��nd weigh the empty pycnometer ��nd record.

2.        Fill with recently boiled, distilled water at a temperature a degree or two below the determination temperature.

3.        Insert thermometer into the bottle, forcing water through the overflow tube.

4.        Place in a constant temperature bath ��nd when the desired temperature is reached, wipe off excess water from the overflow tube tip ��nd cap.

5.        Remove from bath, wipe dry, reweigh ��nd record.

6.        Weight difference is that of the water in the flask - the volume of the pycnometer may be calculated.

7.        Repeat process with liquid of an unknown specific gravity ��nd record the weight difference.

KIMAX bottle used in the determination of the specific gravity of cement, sand, ��nd other fine materials (ASTM C188). Designed for a 64 gram sample. Body holds approximately 250 mL, ��nd the smaller neck bulb holds 17 mL. The neck bulb, the neck is graduated from 0 to 1.0 mL ��nd has two extra 0.1 mL lines both 1.0 mL ��nd 0.0 mL. The neck bulb, the neck is graduated from 18 to 24 mL in 0.1 mL subdivisions. All markings are durable white enamel. Supplied with serial number. Designed from ASTM Specification E694 ��nd complies with C188. Replacement stopper is 41900R.
